“Easy to refer to. They ask the right questions at intake and give me honest updates rather than telling me what I want to hear.”

What people tell us

Support Shouldn't Feel Like Being Processed

Finding disability support is not simply about filling shifts. Participants and families want to know the person providing support will listen, communicate, respect choices and understand what the individual is trying to achieve.

It can be frustrating when support feels rushed, impersonal or focused only on completing tasks. It can be even harder when the participant does not feel involved in decisions about their own support. That is why we start by understanding the person.

Feeling like another task on a roster

Support should reflect the person receiving it, not simply the list of jobs that need completing.

Not being listened to

Preferences, routines and goals matter because good support has to fit real life.

Inconsistent communication

Families, participants and other professionals should understand what is happening rather than constantly chasing information.

Support that creates dependence

Where appropriate, we use active support principles to help the person participate, practise and build skills rather than automatically doing everything for them.

Disability support should be about understanding the person, building trust and helping create meaningful opportunities, not simply completing tasks.

The One & Only approach

What we work toward

The Goal Is More Than Getting Through the Day

Feel understood

Support starts with the person's needs, preferences and circumstances.

Build confidence

Everyday participation can become an opportunity to practise skills and build confidence where appropriate.

Stay connected

Community support should help people take part in activities, interests and experiences that matter to them.

Keep choice in the picture

The participant's preferences and goals remain part of decisions about their support.

Make support work together

Where relevant, we work with families, Support Coordinators and allied health professionals so support strategies are understood and applied consistently.

This is not about labelling other providers. It is about being clear on how we work.

  • Instead of

    Support built around tasks

    One & Only

Support built around the person, their preferences and their goals

  • Instead of

Decisions made without enough participant input

    One & Only

Listening to choices and involving the person in their support

  • Instead of

Doing everything for the person by default

    One & Only

Using active support where appropriate to encourage participation and skill development

How it works

Start With a Conversation

  1. STEP 1

Tell Us What Support You Are Looking For

Complete the short consultation request, or call if that is easier.

  2. STEP 2

    We Talk Through What Matters

We learn about the person's needs, goals, preferences and current situation.

  3. STEP 3

    Discuss the Right Next Step

If the services and situation are a suitable fit, we discuss the appropriate support and what happens from there.

Working together

Support Works Better When Everyone Understands the Plan

We work closely with the participant and, where relevant, their family, Support Coordinator and allied health professionals.

The purpose is practical. If an allied health professional recommends a support strategy or a participant's needs change, the people providing day-to-day support need to understand what is expected and how it applies.

Families and Carers

Support Coordinators and Allied Health Professionals

A provider willing to work collaboratively and apply relevant support recommendations in day-to-day practice.

Experience behind the business

Experience That Shaped a Different View of Support

One & Only was created from years of experience across service, aged care, disability support and management.

The founder began in professional butler service, where attention to detail and understanding people's individual needs were essential. That was followed by 12 years in aged care, including work as a Leisure and Lifestyle Officer and Coordinator, then five years as a Disability Support Worker and six years in disability management.

During four of those management years, the founder was responsible for supporting more than 25 clients and leading a team while working closely with families, Support Coordinators and allied health professionals.

Disability support should be about understanding the person, building trust and helping create meaningful opportunities, not simply completing tasks.
